Concerning the Lord's Table Meeting
- Was Jesus' Breaking of Bread with the Two Disciples Going to Emmaus a Lord's Table Meeting?
The Scriptural record of the Lord's appearing to the two disciples going to Emmaus is replete with many lessons for us believers today. This article details the many lessons from this portion of the Word in Luke 24 as opened up by the ministry of brothers Watchman Nee and Witness Lee and other Bible expositors, and how it has been mishandled and twisted by a dissenting sister in relating house-to-house Lord's table meeting to the Lord's breaking bread with the two disciples. - What were the Practices of the Early Church Life in Acts 2?
Acts 2:46 has been used by a dissenting sister as Scriptural basis for promoting her style of house-to-house Lord's table meeting. This article brings us back intently and more carefully to the biblical record of Acts 2:42-47. It reviews in detail the fifteen salient matters (not just the single practice of breaking bread from house to house) that characterized the wonderful church life in the early days, allowing us a full and balanced view of the practices of the early church in relation to contemporary times and be saved from an undue, baseless singular emphasis given to the matter of "house-to-house Lord's table meeting." Concerning Divine Authority in the Church
- Obsequious and Blind Obedience or Perfect and Unconditional Obedience and Submission according to the Bible?
The church as Christ's Body is in absolute obedience and submission to the Head. The greatest demand of God in the universe is submission. Some may mistake or pervert this word to mean blind obedience, or being obsequious, so it is important for all to see what is the proper submission and obedience according to the Word. This article aims at cutting straight the word of the truth on the divine authority and divine order in the church, so that all may keep the order in the Body unto its building up in love. - What is the Scriptural Principle of Quarantine Applied to a Divisive Person?
Divisions, heresies, and fornication are three sins that are intolerable to God and require a quarantine by the churches and the saints according to the apostles' teaching. This article presents the scriptural principles of quarantine applied to a divisive person. A person who is divisive, rebellious, and factious is sick with contagious germs that might spread and become detrimental to other healthy members of the Body. Hence, quarantine is the means to preserve both the contagious one and the rest of the Body. May this word serve as a timely reminder for all the saints to choose life and abstain from deadness. - Is There Really No Word for Us to Obey the Elders?
The winds of teaching from the dissenting sister has now intensified beyond challenging the scriptural basis of the need for “sisters to submit to brothers” to questioning the scriptural basis of the need for “the saints to obey the elders” in the church. This article provides an in-depth study of the Scriptures which uphold the necessity of obedience and submission to God’s deputy authority in order to submit to God. The Holy Word as expounded through the ministry of brothers Nee and Lee provides ample support for this, and denounces any form of rebellion against them. It further clarifies the matter of proper discernment and obedience to proper authority as different from “blind belief in authority”, while it casts the one who disobeys authority and espouses such disobedience to be really blind to scriptural revelation on authority. - Residency and Testimony – Truth or Twisting?
For the church to be a proper church, it is important that there are proper elders. A number of prerequisites are listed in the Word for an elder, yet nothing supports the supercilious requirements made repeatedly by a dissenting sister that elders need to reside continually in the locality where they are bishops. While they need to be those who manage their own household well, there is no Biblical requirement that their wives and children must be those who love and live the church life at all times, or else they may be disqualified. This article, while pointing out the errors in the sister’s teaching, also solemnly warns us about the consequences of women teaching with authority to define truths. READ THE FULL ARTICLE...
- Quarantine in the Bible and in Practice
After the letters from the co-workers and elders of Malabon calling for the quarantine of Sister Charing Garcia, some saints have sought clarification about quarantine --- its goal, application, spirit and basis in the Word. To quarantine is not to excommunicate or cut off, but to temporarily segregate a diseased member of the Body to protect the whole Body and the sick member himself. So that the saints may have a clearer understanding concerning the matter of quarantine, we recommend for everyone to read (Quarantine in the Bible and in Practice - English and Chinese) published by the Defense and Confirmation Project.
- Who are God’s Delegated Authorities in the Body?
In chapters 7 and 8 of his book Authority and Submission, Brother Nee presented clearly who are the delegated authorities in the church, the Body of Christ, whom he identified firstly as the elders in the church, the elderly saints, men in the church, husbands, other members of the Body, and other members’ function. Since God honors his deputy authorities despite their imperfections, we must learn to honor them and submit to them. Submission to the representative authority is a real test to us. Those who reject God’s deputy authority reject God Himself. The ones who revile God’s delegated authority will lose their spiritual power. READ THE FULL ARTICLE...
- Remember, Obey, and Greet the Ones Leading You
In Hebrews 13, Paul has a threefold mentioning of “the ones leading you”: remember the ones leading you (v. 7), obey the ones leading you (v. 17), and greet all the ones leading you (v. 24). In this article, we review the intention, proper interpretation and application of these three verses vis-à-vis a dissenting sister’s article which, while on the surface bears the title “Obey the Ones Leading You”, is filled with overbearing complaints and baseless accusations against some of the elders, and actuality meant to sow discord and suspicion in readers against the ones who are leading them. - Who are the Shining Stars and the Wandering Stars?
Christ is our Star who shines in the midst of darkness, and we also need to be overcomers who are shining stars in the churches and be saved from becoming or following wandering stars. Such a word from the ministry on shining stars and wandering stars was never meant to be used to subvert God's administration in the church. This article presents the full context of the message that has been deformed and misquoted by a discordant sister and brings readers back to the intent and burden of Brother Lee in unveiling this portion of the Word. Concerning the Divine Order in the Church
- Masculinism (Machismo) or the Pure Revelation of the Word of God?
Over past year, a number of articles were published on the website of the dissenting sister accusing the elders and co-workers here and abroad of "lording it over the flock" and of exercising "machismo" in the church. This article illustrates that the teaching and practice of the Lord, the apostles in the New Testament, and brothers Watchman Nee, Witness Lee, and Liu Chi Cheng, as well as the proper exercise of authority of the elders and co-workers are not a display of “machismo,” but according to God’s principle and order in His divine ordination regarding women since the beginning, as revealed in the Word of God. - Feminism or the Pure Revelation of the Word of God?
This article exposes the underlying unscriptural, worldly, and fallen principles of feminism brewing within the dissenting sister's continued promoting of her different and unhealthy teaching that "sisters do not need to submit to brothers" in many of her articles in the Internet. It also provides a refreshing and enriching review of what is in the ministry of brothers Nee and Lee concerning Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Bride of Christ in the millennial kingdom, in stark contrast to their being misused by the sister to promote feminism in the church. - Is it Unscriptural for Sisters to Submit to Brothers?
1 Cor. 11:3 clearly shows us a divine order ordained by God through three headships: God-Christ-Man. God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, and man is the head of the woman. The verse applying the head covering of the woman to prayer and prophesying disproves a claim that the headship of man over the woman is related only to family matters and does not apply in the church context. - Women in the Divine Administration
The Bible shows us that sisters do play a crucial and positive role and function in the church life and in service to the Lord. However, from time to time a few sisters have overstepped and have caused damage in certain places by attempting to assert authority in a church or in the work. This article is a reminder of the need to recognize, respect, and adhere to God’s governmental arrangement concerning sisters in the church and in the Lord’s service so that a proper order may be maintained for the sake of the building. It presents patterns in the Scriptures of sisters serving in proper coordination with the God-ordained authority. It corrects misuse of verses such as Gal. 3:28 and Rev. 1:16 and 20 to justify subverting God's administration in the church. Lastly, it provides rich and insightful appendices covering important points from the ministry regarding submission to authority and the work. READ THE FULL ARTICLE…
Concerning the Work and the Co-workers
- No Uncertain Sounding of the Trumpet in the Lord's Ministry
Brother Witness Lee faithfully warned co-workers against doing their own work surreptitiously while apparently participating in the work of the ministry in the Lord’s recovery. A dissenting sister, who insists on operating her own website to air her views, teach, and critique the leadership in the work and among the churches, narrowly and improperly specified her own set of criteria of what a “work within a work” is to absolve herself against the pronouncement of Brother Liu Chi-cheng that her work falls under such a work. This article delves into the ministry and presents Brother Lee’s five indicators to check if one is doing the unique work of the ministry and the seventeen markers of one who is doing his own work within the work. The analysis of the sister’s work vis-à-vis excerpts from the ministry and the examples of the Lord and of His faithful servants shows conclusively that “a work within the work” is not a misnomer but is in fact a fitting description of her work as reflected in the website "seekers of God's desire". Concerning Different Teachings and Mishandling the Word
- How is Fornication Related to Idolatry, Heresy, and Division?
The principle of fornication as an abomination to God applies not only to the fleshly, physical aspect of lust and illicit relations, but just as importantly to a spiritual aspect and application which anyone may fall prey to. This third article of our series delves into the Word and the ministry to clearly show the significance and interrelationships of heresy, idolatry and fornication --- three sins that bring tremendous damage to the Body and insult the Head, which the Bible warns us to beware of. According to the Scriptures, persons engaged in these should not be accepted into the fellowship of the church, as God cannot tolerate such heinous sins. May the Lord give each reader a clear understanding of the ramifications and keep us from these grave sins to be preserved in the oneness and one accord in the proper church life according to the apostles' teaching and by following the footsteps of the flock. - How is Idolatry Related to Heresy and Division?
The saints may be complacent to think that just because there is no physical idol in the meeting halls, we do not have idols in the church. This article presents the teaching of brothers Nee and Lee that opens up the true meaning of idol-worshipping and idolatry which extends beyond the physical aspect of the idols to the things men set up in their hearts as substitutes to God and how they are the main causes of division in the church. - What is the Real Meaning of Heresy according to the Bible?
In the New Testament, one of the items among the believers and members of the Body which is considered an intolerable sin that warrants quarantine from the Body is heresy. Many Christians merely know that heresy refers to something negative in relation to doctrine. This article provides a rather in-dept study, showing that heresy (Gk, hairesis) firstly means the causing of divisions that form sects in the Body of Christ, and secondly it means the holding of a teaching that seduces people and leads them away from the Lord. Hence, whoever forms a party and makes any self-opinionated teaching that becomes the cause of division in the church is the "heretical" man spoken of in the Bible whom we should turn away from. - What is the Meaning and Significance of "Boundary Marker?"
Under the command of God, Moses in Deuteronomy 19:14 warned the children of Israel not to move their neighbor’s boundary marker. The opposing sister used the verse out of context to attack the elders, misapplying God's prohibition of the Israelites to move the neighbor's boundary marker to the physical reassignment in the numbers of districts and clusters. This article presents a comprehensive collection of ministry excerpts regarding the real meaning and significance of the "moving of the boundary marker" and how such a prohibition and warning is properly applied to our church life today. - Are the Living Overcomers Only from Philadelphia?
In another audacious example of recklessly disregarding the apostle Paul’s charge for women not to assert authority over men by teaching with authority, the dissenting sister wrote and published in her website an erroneous teaching, alleging that only the church in Philadelphia has living overcomers, and that the rest of the churches prefigured by the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 could only have dead overcomers. In this second installment of our study on these two chapters of Revelation, we present the truth concerning the overcomers in the last four churches in Revelation 2 and 3, and compare what brothers Nee and Lee taught us against what the sister is teaching. - What Makes Philadelphia a Laodicea?
In one of her recent articles, the dissenting sister nitpicked on two of what she claims to be the elders’ decisions which she opposes: an alleged prohibition against immediately baptizing newly saved ones and the sequence of the prophesying meeting and the bread-breaking meeting. She further inferred that "Philadelphia has become Laodicea” in her locality based on the items she presented. But contrary to what the sister is teaching, the fall of the church from a condition of Philadelphia to Laodicea has nothing to do with how soon new ones are baptized or the sequence of meetings. The Word, as expounded by the ministry, clearly shows that it is the loss of brotherly love and a fall from a proper order in the church life with the opinions of the many that cause the church to become lukewarm, wretched, poor, blind and naked. - Why is it Important to Handle the Facts in the Bible Accurately?
Brothers Watchman Nee and Witness Lee taught us to pay attention to the facts in the Bible. Every word in the Scriptures serves a divine purpose. We need to discover the facts in the Bible – descriptions, numbers, modifiers, verbs, nouns, etc. Everything about the Bible is an important part of God's message, not only what it says but also what it does not say, the smallest details, even the repetition. By holding faithfully to the proper facts, we afford the Lord the opportunity to shine His light upon the facts so that we may receive the divine revelation. At the same time, we should take care how we handle the Bible. We should not twist or deform it by adding or subtracting to the Holy Word. Without the proper facts, there can be no light or revelation. Moreover, concerning those whom we follow, we need to check how such a one handles the truth. READ THE FULL ARTICLE…
- What Really was the Lord's Blessing and Reward to Antipas?
This article reviews the rich ministry from brothers Watchman Nee and Witness Lee on the martyr Antipas (Rev. 2:12-17), and disproves a claim that Antipas was “the recipient of the Lord’s blessing by way of much spiritual fruits for Christ’s multiplication and God’s glory.” READ THE FULL ARTICLE…
- Is House-to-House Lord's Table Meeting the Optimum Way of Hastening the Lord's Return?
This article debunks the claim made by a dissonant sister that house-to-house Lord’s table meeting is the optimum way of hastening the Lord’s return. Neither the Scriptures nor the ministry of brothers Nee and Lee ever linked any practice of meeting to the optimum means of hastening the Lord's return. Rather, the ministry opens up from the Scriptures twenty-four positive items in our living and pursuit that would hasten the Lord's return. READ THE FULL ARTICLE…
